2026.09.15 Orientation for International Degree and Exchange Students – A Warm Beginning to a Diverse Global Campus

To help new international students quickly adapt to campus life and become familiar with the university’s academic and student support resources, the Office of International Affairs (OIA) held the International Degree and Exchange Student Orientation on on September 9, 2026. The event was organized in collaboration with the Student Housing Section and the Student Counseling Center, introducing campus facilities, key administrative procedures, as well as residency and work regulations in Taiwan. The orientation aimed to support students in confidently beginning their academic journey in Taiwan.

In recent years, National Taipei University has continued to integrate campus-wide resources and actively promote internationalization, strengthening cross-cultural engagement and global exchange. This year, NTPU welcomed more than 80 international degree students and 108 exchange students from partner universities around the world. The students come from Europe, the Americas, Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, Macao, and Mainland China, reflecting the university’s diverse and growing international community.

At the event, Yu-An Lin, Director of the Division of Overseas Student Affairs in the Office of International Affairs, delivered welcoming remarks and encouraged students to make good use of the university’s resources while continuing to grow academically and personally. Director Lin also encouraged students to actively participate in campus clubs and local cultural activities, explore Taiwan’s culture and way of life, and expand their social networks. She further encouraged students to consider Taiwan as a starting point for their future development and to embark on their own exciting journeys.

To help students adapt to dormitory life, the Student Housing Section introduced relevant housing regulations and student rights and responsibilities. The Student Counseling Center introduced the university’s mental health support services and encouraged students to complete a psychological adjustment questionnaire to better understand their own adjustment and seek appropriate support when needed. The Office of International Student Career Counseling and Retention in Taiwan also introduced policies and support measures related to employment and career development in Taiwan, encouraging students to plan ahead for their future in Taiwan.

Student representatives also joined the event to share information about campus clubs and student-led activities, encouraging new students to get involved and make the most of their university experience.

The arrival of students from around the world brings new energy and vitality to NTPU and further strengthens the university’s commitment to internationalization. Looking ahead, the Office of International Affairs will continue to organize diverse international exchange activities and foster collaboration among university units, faculty, and students, working together to create a more open, welcoming, and inclusive international learning environment.
